I bought a table, four chairs, and a bench off of craigslist a few months before we left because I knew we would need a table that could fit more than four people when we had company come stay. It wasn't until after we moved that we actually had time to redo the table how I wanted it. I accidentally deleted my really good "before" picture, but here is what the table looked like before and then the table and chairs after their makeover! I love it! Two chairs were painted black like the table, and the other two were just a light brown wood.
We hadn't lacquered the top yet in this picture, so it has a bit more gloss on top now
Here's our cute townhome from the outside. One day I'll give you a walk through of the inside too! (This was taken by Marcus when he got home from school one day. Notice the huge grin on Bryker's face. He loves it when dad comes home!)
Let's start with a bump update! As I'm sitting here writing this post I am 34 week and two days pregnant. As mentioned in my last post this pregnancy has been such a blessing, but has come with several trials. While most of them were things such as placenta previa the most recent and most stressful was getting on insurance and finding a doctor in Missouri.
I loved my doctor in Idaho and was so sad to leave him. No matter how much I liked him though there is no way I'm making the 17 hour drive back there to have him deliver this little guy...so I had to set out to find one closer to my new home.
To make a long story short, it took nearly 8 weeks to finally be approved for health insurance despite my phone calls to the office nearly every other day. In turn, no doctors were willing to see me because I didn't have insurance, and because we are living completely off student loans I wasn't able to pay out of pocket for an appointment. Finally, however, miracles started to happen. After making what seemed like a hundred phone calls I was finally able to schedule an appointment with a doctor who delivers at the hospital I want to deliver at. Even though I didn't have insurance yet I was grateful to have an appointment scheduled, and I had faith that everything would work out. Sure enough the next morning I found out that I had been approved for Medicaid! What a blessing!
I saw my doctor yesterday and I think she's going to be great! I'm measuring right where I should be and this little guy's heartbeat is sounding good! I can't believe I have less than 6 weeks until his due date! I feel like this pregnancy has gone by so quickly. I am so ready to be done being pregnant, but I am not sure I'm ready to have Dre here yet. So I hope these next few weeks slow down just a little bit.
My most recent belly picture! 34 weeks!
Here's a glance at what Bryker has been up to:
He is such a boy! Anyone who knows him would have to agree with that. He likes sticks and rocks, cars and superheroes, bats and balls. He also loves to get messy, climb on and jump off anything and eveything...pretty much anything really "boy." We spend a lot of time outside despite the heat and humidity we have had here. He loves to go outside, even if we just hang out on our stoop. He has become very independent which I'm sure comes with the age. While sometimes it's a bit of a pain for him to want to do everything by himself, it is fun to watch him too.
Covered in chalk
Riding a bike for the first time
Writing his name all by himself
Put on his shoes so he could go to dad's school "with himself"
Eating an avocado all by himself
Bryker started going to Joy School this week with some of our cute neighbors and he seems to love it! Monday was his first day and he was so excited! Here are some pictures from his "first day of school" photo shoot. I think it's safe to say he was silly with excitement.
Some of my favorite things he says:
"Oh, I thought so!"
"What the?!" Usually followed by a goofy, fake laugh
"What does funder (thunder) say?" followed by sounds that sound more like static than thunder :)
"I'm standing in the chicken!" He's recently started calling the kitchen, the chicken
"I'm studyin my books like dad." While reading books in his room
And my last one, while saying his prayers "please bless mommy and Bryker and dad and baby Dre in moms tummy and dad and Bryker to be safe (or healthy, or to sleep good)."
He has gotten really into singing. Sometimes I will find him singing songs like "hi-ho" from Snow White, or "under the sea" from The Little Mermaid. He will even make up his own songs. The other day out of the blue he started singing "follow the prophet, follow the prophet!" I realized that it has been a very long time since I have sung that to him and had no clue he knew it. Thank goodness for nursery and the wonderful things they teach him there!
There are days that are exhausting being pregnant with a two year old. Some days go by slower than others for sure. Days like those are easily forgotten, though, when he wraps his arms around me and says "I wub you!" or when I'm having one of my emotional breakdowns for whatever reason and he looks at me concerned and says "you kinda just a wibit (little bit) sad mommy?" I really do love that kid. I am so lucky to get to stay home with him everyday!

Marcus is keeping very busy with school. It's been a difficult adjustment to have him gone so much between studying and classes, but Bryker and I are starting to get a routine and are finding ways to keep ourselves busy until dad comes home for dinner each day. Marcus started school August 4th and has already completed 2 courses-biochemistry and immunology. It's crazy how fast everything is going, but he is handling it really well. I am so proud of him and his hard work!
Marcus' White Coat Ceremony
My cute matching boys
Marcus and his parents. They were able to come for the ceremony!
My handsome man's first day of Medical School!
I am the laurel advisor in our ward and I am excited to start teaching with the Come Follow Me curriculum. I haven't ever used it, but I think it will be really neat! My favorite times of the day are nap time, because that's "me" time, and when Marcus comes home. He is so cute with Bryker, I love to listen to the two of them play. Most nights I also enjoy Bryker's bedtime routine because I get to read books with him and watch his love for the scriptures grow as we read together. My mad cooking skills have improved, including my ability to improvise a meal, since moving, but I feel like I'm suddenly stuck in a rut when it comes to new meals. If any of you have quick and delicious recipes I would love to get them from you :)
Here are some pictures of the fun things we have been able to do so far. There are so many things to do and see that I am sure there will be many posts in the future to cover them!
